The Cemetery Project, being led by Dr. Jules Duga and Cyril Duga, involves painstakingly cataloging the graves in the 13 central Ohio Jewish cemeteries. The data gathered from the cemeteries contains much information useful to the family researcher including date and place of birth and death, information about the deceased's family and sometimes much more.

This project has a direct follow-on:  the cataloguing of the Jewish community of Columbus.  This effort is being assisted by Carol Shkolnik and will be expanded to include information from various public sources (death certificates, obituaries) and from the Jewish Family Community Survey.

This information will be published in book form and also submitted to JewishGen, which is sponsoring the world-wide cemetery project. Listed below is a small sample of information from our cemetery database. This data is being updated continually.

To view the data, select the first letter of the surname:
A - B - C - DEF - G - HIJK - L - M - NOPQ - R - S - TUVWXYZ

In the data that follows, the first two letters signify the county (FR=Franklin, MU=Muskingum, ST=Stark, SU=Summit, BE=Belmont, etc.).  ZZV = Zanesville.

The Cemeteries represented in Franklin County are

AAA=Agudas Achim, Alum Creek
TIA=Tifereth Israel, Alum Creek
BJA=Beth Jacob, Alum Creek
ASA=Ahavas Shalom, Alum Creek,
