The CJHS oral history committee is chaired by Helena
Schlam. The goals of the oral history program are
- To collect on audio tape, the histories of persons from all walks of
life who have firsthand knowledge of the Jewish experience in the Columbus Metropolitan
area and central Ohio.
- To interview, transcribe, catalogue, and index the recorded tapes for storage in
the Columbus Jewish Historical Society Archives. These interviews will be accessible
to family members, for
scholarly research, and educational programming.
- To use oral history in the educational, programming, publications, and
other local Jewish history activities for the benefit of the Columbus Jewish community
