COLUMBUS JEWISH HISTORICAL SOCIETY
SPONSORS GROUP TRIP TO THE MALTZ MUSEUM
The Columbus Jewish Historical Society is sponsoring a
group trip to the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage in Cleveland, Ohio on
Sunday, November 09, 2008. A private docent tour has been arranged that
will include the new exhibit "Zap! Pow! Bam! The Superhero: The
Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938-1950". The exhibit gives a proud
nod to the prominence of Jewish artists and the importance of Cleveland
(home of the creation of Superman by a pair of Glenville High School
students) in the development of comic book art. In addition to rare,
never-before-displayed comic book art and memorabilia, the exhibit
features 1940s serials, video interviews, an interactive phone booth, a
drawing studio, and costumes for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
Visitors to the Maltz Museum will step inside a world filled with
inspiring and moving stories of Jewish immigrants, perhaps even their own
ancestors and modern-day heroes. By incorporating state-of-the-art
computer interactives, film, special effects, individual stories and oral
histories, the Museum’s dramatic permanent exhibition is an uplifting
and moving experience.
The group trip includes: Continental Breakfast, Box Lunch, Admission to
the Museum, and Private Bus Transportation (including gratuity to the
driver). The group will meet at the Melton Community Services Building,
1175 College Avenue, at 8:00 AM for breakfast and return approximately
6:00- 6:30 PM. Cost of the trip is $68.00 per person, payable to the
Columbus Jewish Historical Society, 1175 College Avenue, Columbus, OH
43209, or call Peggy Kaplan at 614-238-6977. Make your reservation ASAP as
the seats are limited. Your check is your reservation. This trip is open
to members of the community.
